Workshop Bros Southbank sits tucked along Riverside Quay, offering a straightforward yet polished café experience that fits well into the Southbank riverside scene. It’s the kind of place locals lean on for reliably good breakfast and brunch, especially when craving a solid coffee alongside thoughtful dishes that strike a balance between familiar and a bit adventurous.

The café draws a steady mix of early risers, office workers, and weekend brunch groups, creating a buzz that’s lively but never overwhelming. Inside, the vibe manages to feel both relaxed and purposeful; despite the busy location and foot traffic nearby, there’s a peacefulness in the seating areas that invites diners to settle in without rush.

Coffee is clearly a priority here—expect smooth, well-prepared options including batch brews and quality milk alternatives, with soy latte and matcha by Konomi standing out as local favorites. The all-day breakfast menu leans toward elevated classics: eggs cooked just right, crisp bacon, comfort food like slow-cooked beef cheeks, and inventive variations such as chilli scrambled eggs or their take on okonomiyaki. There's something for straightforward mornings as well as those moments when you want to linger a little and enjoy complex flavors.

Service tends to be quick and attentive, which helps during busy weekday mornings, though the atmosphere gently shifts in the afternoon when closing preparations start, so visiting earlier in the day gives a better sense of flow. For those mindful of gluten-free options, note the bread choice could see some improvement, but it’s a relatively minor note compared to the overall consistency in quality.

Workshop Bros Southbank fits well into a day spent exploring Melbourne’s riverside precinct — stop by for a no-nonsense breakfast, a caffeine hit, or a casual brunch with friends. Its mix of friendly efficiency, solid food, and an easygoing setting caters particularly well to locals who want a dependable spot that complements the riverside’s more bustling offerings without adding extra fuss.

Had an amazing breakfast at Workshop Bros Southbank. I ordered the bacon and eggs and it was honestly one of the best I’ve had in Melbourne. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the bacon was crispy with great flavour, and the whole dish was fresh, simple, and done right. Coffee was smooth and high quality, and the service was quick and friendly even during the busy morning rush. A great spot to start the day—highly recommended if you want a solid, delicious breakfast with consistently good service.

Fantastic coffee, reasonably priced and lovely staff. Getting 4 stars as they’d started mopping and stacking chairs around 2pm when they close at 4pm - ruined the atmosphere slightly.

We had brunch on Sunday with some friends, and it was a fantastic experience. The food and drinks were beautifully presented and had a really refined touch. Most of us ordered the restaurant’s signature slow-cooked beef cheeks, they were incredibly tender and full of flavor, definitely the highlight of the meal. The atmosphere was relaxed yet stylish, and the service was attentive. A great spot for a leisurely weekend catch-up!

I had breakfast at Workshop Bros many time and it was easy, quick and delicious every time. Nothing is a problem for a staff, service is friendly and efficient. I just wish their gluten free bread was a better quality. It set in a busy area, but still nice and peaceful inside and outside of the cafe. It is one of my preferred cafes in the Southbank. Would definitely recommend to visit. Thank you.

Probably the only place serving coffee in coconut milk in Southbank. I have been searching for a place for months now and this is the only one which caters to all my dietary restrictions. Gluten free Dairy free Coconut milk We tried: - Toast with avocado on the side - Few different croissants and danish - Cappuccino and latte Everything we had was good and we have no complaints. Although it felt the staff was rushing us. We were constantly being asked if we are ready to order, the staff was hovering to clear the plates as soon as one of us finished our food or coffee. Then the staff dropped the bill while we were still having our meal. It felt odd and awkward. It wasn’t even near closing time. I want to go back but unsure if I will because I clearly cannot sit and relax over there, with friends or alone.

Came here to try their Einspänner through Skip app so it would be ready when I arrive. When I arrived, they had no idea there was an order through Skip So I had to wait, but luckily they made it pretty quick. Reasonable wait time, as it was not as busy as well. Seems like it’s more like Mont Blanc than Einspänner, should’ve known from the description.. citrus cold brew with cream Nevertheless, the coffee drink was delicious and refreshing, recommend to try
